Psychosis and Death of the Author: Algorithm – YU03/04.13 is theory based digital (CD-Rom, LAN, and Internet) theatre performance researching performing arts in the age of new media. As a first project of this kind in the local context, it also questions the interactions: between small, local culture that tries to conserve itself (and its /quasi or non/inherited values) from new influences and paradigms of contemporary global society that tries to assimilate differences in a certain superficial non-conflict equality; between the old figure of the artist-genius that creates ex nihillo and the modern figure of the artist-operator (according to theses of death of the Subject and the Author); and between different practices that make culture we live in (contemporary theories of culture, new media and technologies, theatre, performance art, etc).
This performance is realized as live interactive (Internet) event, similar to interactive video games with precise propositions and rules, and with full audience participation on one side, but also similar to cruel ‘big-brother-like’ TV shows in which the destiny of the participants depends on the audience’s voting.
