DASARTS - MASTER OF THEATRE

After 15 years of existence as an experimental art school, DasArts transformed itself into an international Master of Theatre, part of the Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK). We offer a unique training laboratory for professionals in the field of the performing arts, in conformance with the internationally recognized Master qualifications.

DasArts offers a question based study course that guarantees the development of individual artistic ambitions. The entire trajectory focuses upon the achievement of these individual goals as defined by the student at the beginning of the course.

The Master of Theatre curriculum consists of 4 semesters: 2 semesters are mainly collective programmes presented in a compact “Block format” with workshops, lectures, activities and assignments brought together by an external curator; the 2 other semesters are individually designed and dedicated to the personal research or the realisation of a Master Proof.

DasArts defines itself as a challenging environment and engages itself deeply in the follow up of its students. DasArts students are responsible, ready to share and discuss their work, open for unexpected views and experiences.

DasArts is located in a historic school building near the Oosterpark in Amsterdam. A big house with plenty of spaces, offering studios, working rooms, a library and a kitchen. An 8 persons staff is running the building and the programme. They assist the students on a daily basis. A wide range of artistic experts is part of our network; they can be called upon as individual coaches. Recently, Barbara Van Lindt has been appointed as the new managing director of DasArts.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

We are happy to welcome new students from the next semester starting 1 September 2009, until 28 February 2010.
Deadline for applications is Friday 17 April. Applications have to be submitted in English at http://www.dasarts.nl/application

A first selection based on the application form and the visual material will take place in the beginning of May.

A second round will take place in DasArts. We invite a small group for a two days programme of interviews, practical exercises, a meal and a collective visit of a theatre performance. Those 2 days will be divided over two periods: 27 & 28 May 2009 or 8 & 9 June 2009
